ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has filed a request in the El
ection Commission of Pakistan (ECP) agai
nst Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s statement on the Se
nate el
ections.
Last week, PM Abbasi had said that
votes had been ‘purchased’ in el
ection for the Senate chairman. He had also challenged Imran Khan and Asif Ali Zardari to say on record that their MPAs were not bought.
In his petition, Imran has demanded that the prime minister corroborate his claims before the commission. H
e also said that the remarks made by the prime minister about the ‘buying and selling’ of
votes is dangerous and “it is something you would not expect from the chief executive of a country.”
Stating that the ECP must take action, the petition asked for the premier to be summoned and claims probed. Excerpts from statements wer
e also inserted with the petition.
